Hey there, Bansko fam! Can you feel that crisp mountain air already? It’s that time of year when the Pirin Mountains dust off their white blankets, and we’re all itching to carve up some fresh powder. The 2025-2026 ski season officially blasts off on Saturday, December 13th, and trust me, this opening day’s packed with more thrills than a black diamond run. Whether you’re a pro shredder or just here for the vibes (and maybe a mulled wine or two), Bansko’s pulling out all the stops – except the much needed fresh snow. More on that soon… Grab your thermals; let’s dive into the schedule that’s got everyone buzzing!

Morning Magic Up at Banderishka Polyana

We kick things off high in the hills at Banderishka Polyana (that’s the top of the gondola lift for you newbies), where the fun starts early. Picture this: families, friends, and fellow powder hounds gathering under the snowy peaks.

  • 9:30 AM: Registration opens for two can’t-miss games—”Join the Champion’s Team” and “Treasure Hunters.” It’s your chance to channel your inner Olympian or Indiana Jones—sign up quick, spots fill fast!
  • 11:00 AM: The action ramps up with the start of “Join the Champion’s Team.” Team up, tackle challenges, and who knows? You might snag some swag from our awesome sponsors like Fibank, A1, and Audi.
  • 12:00 PM: Time for some serious inspiration—a mass ski slide featuring the stars and adorable kids from the ULEN Ski School. Followed right on its heels by a banging DJ set from Alexandros Trai & Anastasis Vouikis. Expect beats that’ll have you dancing in your ski boots!
  • 1:00 PM: Catch the rhythmic vibes of a Percussion Show to keep the energy pumping.
  • 1:30 PM: “Treasure Hunters” launches, with the prize ceremony for both games wrapping it all up. Winners, step up—your glory awaits!

If you’re not up for the games, just soak in the views and maybe grab a hot chocolate while the little ones (or big kids at heart) play.

Afternoon Après Turns Epic in Town

As the sun dips, we slide down to the heart of Bansko at Nikola Vaptsarov Square for the real party. This is where the town comes alive with that signature Bulgarian warmth.

  • 5:30 PM: Dive into “Unique Bansko”, a mouthwatering culinary showcase and tasting of our traditional local eats. Think banitsa, grilled meats, and rakia flows—pure comfort on a chilly day. (Pro tip: Come hungry!)
  • 6:00 PM: The official season opening! Rub shoulders with VIP guests and drumroll… legendary ski icons Giorgio Rocca and Marc Girardelli. Yeah, those guys—the Italian downhill dynamo and the Luxembourgish all-rounder who’s nabbed more World Cup medals than most of us have ski trips. They’ll be sharing stories, signing autographs, and probably dropping tips on nailing that perfect carve. It’s a dream meet-up for any slope enthusiast!
  • 6:30 PM: Wrap it with a lively folklore performance—dancers in traditional garb, infectious rhythms, and that feel-good energy that screams “Bansko welcomes you home.”

Sponsors like Max Sport, Balkantourist, Coca-Cola, and more are fueling the festivities, so expect giveaways, photo ops, and all the festive cheer.Don’t Forget the Essentials—We’ve Got You Covered!
