Unforgettable Kickoff: The Most Spectacular Start to Bansko’s Ski Season Yet

A much delayed blog here. I’m sorry but the vlogs over on our YouTube channel have been released almost every day since the first day open on the 7th December. So much snow fell with now a total of 1.3 metres on the Plato. The last dump being 40cm on Saturday 19th December.

And the good news continues, with more 20cm+ now arriving today tonight, Monday 22nd December 2024. Whilst temperatures will start to fall on and Christmas Day will see some more snow fall in town.Then from 26th December temperatures are daytime below zero in town and that assures excellent snow for the New Year period.

Ski touring: a unique adventure

I managed my first ski touring trip (known as “back country” by our US friends). You’ll see clips of that on the socials: All banskoblog except X which is @bansko .I ended up enjoying my ski touring, albeit quite a lot of hassle. I had to have back pack to put skins that go on the bottom of the skis to help you slide uphill! That and the boots and skis were new to me. So the trek from the road to Vihren hut (from piste 9a) was a long one. The notice above Vihren hut it all turned out good with incredible views and much fun making video with Pasha’s drone “droney”.
