A wine-tasting ski adventure with eight exquisite wines.

Wine tasting is an art that requires all your senses to be fully engaged. Start by examining the wine’s color, clarity, and viscosity. Then, take a deep sniff and try to identify the aromas. Swirl the wine in your glass to release more aromas and take another sniff. Finally, take a sip and let the wine coat your tongue. Pay attention to the flavors, acidity, tannins, and finish.

Well that is the theory. And we put that theory into practice with 8wines.com who sent me some terrific wines to try with friends and family. The first tasting, see above, covered two white wines and a rose.

My wine tasting notes are not so descriptive and use sensory language. There is a shortage of metaphors or similes to describe the wine’s characteristics. Just click on the links above to 8wines pages for each of the wines. The prices are super competitive too.

I didn’t always remember to note the producer, wine’s full name, region of origin, grape variety, price, and some other relevant information.

However, I felt one should not get too caught up in the technical details and instead myself, family and friends focussed on enjoying the experience.

The second tasting for four red wines took place in Plovdiv. I was fortunate enough to have the support of Trilogie wine bar’s downstairs area. All served up with some tasty tapas.

The four wines tasted are as follows:

Wine tasting is a social activity, so feel free to share your thoughts and opinions with others. And if you want to have some fun, you can always try out some pretentious things to say at a wine tasting, but be prepared for some eye-rolls. As Ernest Hemingway said, “Wine is the most civilized thing in the world.” So, let’s raise a glass and toast to the joys of wine tasting!

A special thanks to 8wines.com who I can’t recommend enough. They ship everywhere in Europe including those countries outside the EU, like the UK!! Remember to use NEWCUST8J as your coupon code for 10 EUR OFF (MIN 100 EUR ORDER).

Remember to order a case before you arrive in Bansko or indeed anywhere else you are or are travelling to, in Europe!
