The Bansko Ski Season That Keeps on Giving: until 11th April 2021
50cm+ of snow over these last four days in Bansko has lead to day after day of truly epic conditions. Fresh powder, beautiful slopes and sunshine.
This season has been the best I have ever known. And it’s set to last until the end of the season as temperature rise next week. Take a look as my last snow report on 3rd March 2021 with long term visitor Marek. Who flew over from Cyprus and has never left Bansko since.
The guilt is still there as hospitals are close to capacity and this latest wave for corona probably the worst. As I type there are signs that the wave is starting to subside.
As I look towards the closure of the lifts on April 11th, I am a little surprised that, so far, amongst all the people I have been skiing with and the community of digital nomads, freelancers and remote workers that no-one (that I know of) has been admitted to hospital or been really seriously ill. Of course many have had the virus but mostly without incident and many asymptomatic. This comes after many weeks when we had visitors from Czech Republic and earlier in the season visitors from Romania.
We are expecting quite a few from Israel, now that their airport has opened up.
So there we go. Restaurants now (officially) closed until 1st April and possibly this being extended. But the fun continues with so many people here having the time of their lives. I, for one, have kept up the outings on the mountain and I leave you today with my tip which is to book for next season and book for later on and try and avoid weekends. Three shorter trips are better than one long one. April is becoming the new March to here’s to many more great Spring skiing days ahead.
