The historical castle: well worth the views

Kavala is mentioned in most guidebooks often only in passing, although it is one of the most beautiful and most liveable cities in Greece. A wealth of possibilities for excursions are available in the surrounding area and include many interesting, often little occupied beaches, archaeological sites that makes it a fun-filled excursion from Bansko.

It not as crowded as the famous sights in Central and Southern Greece and the climate in Kavala is much milder than the scorching temperature you fine in Athens.

Kavala is a favourite for Bansko regulars and residents alike and I always enjoy visiting Kavala as well as nearby Thessaloniki for wonderful cuisine and the history of

Visit old town of Kavala where you’ll find a great historical hotel, several Greek taverns and a road full of traditional houses up to the city castle.

On Spring, summer and Autumn times then we visit the beach, some 12 kilometres outside the city of Kavala. There are plenty both lively and relaxing beach bars there.
