Season Ends 7th April 2019: Good snow till the end

This is the Bansko ski season that just keeps on giving. The last weeks has delivered seven days of mainly clear blue skies and warm sunshine. With wonderful skiing in the morning up until 1pm ish and later some days there has nothing been to complain about.

Then today it gets even better because there are even fewer people here in Bansko. More empty pistes and more smiles.

Why does the ski season end 7th April 2019?

The only negative is that season is due to end on the 7th April 2019. I know there are many of you who have booked to be here the following week and I have passed this on to the ski lift company. UK school holidays are such a good time to come and it will be a great shame off the season can’t be extended to the 14th April.

So I do not know why the season ends. Especially so because there is a ski team, from eastern Europe, coming to train in Bansko — so I expect a few slopes will be open for them. Anyhow we can only hope.

How is the snow and the weather? Should I come to Bansko now, last minute?

It will turn colder from tomorrow. There will be some snow higher up. Looking ahead to next week there will be a significant dump of snow. Too early to be sure but I believe there is more powder days ahead.

I like the resort empty — so please don’t come here for a last minute trip. But this is a blog where I tell you how it is as free as possible from any commercial self interest. So no — still don’t come. 😉

That said, if you choose to ignore me (and you should) then we’re still here, all year round, with transfers, car hire, ski hire snowboard hire and private lessons. And my top tip is to book one or two private lessons. Improving your ski and snowboarding skills is always a good idea and makes all the more enjoyable.
