Kempinski staff feed the bears for winter

The Kempinski hotel continues its “One Team – one Goal – One Tonne of Food” initiative for a sixth year in a row. The traditionally noble mission of Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko took place on 10 October. For a sixth consecutive year, the hotel donated more than one tonne of fresh fruits to the Dancing Bears Park in Belitsa.

The donation of food is planned intentionally in October, when bears prepare for hibernation and need more food and vitamins. The fruit will be hidden by the parkʼs staff in different places, so the bears can find it as they normally do in a natural wild environment. The hosts returned the gesture with a specially
prepared welcome lunch for the hotel team.

Cuddly bear roaming in safety: Dancing Bears Park, Belitsa

The Dancing Bears Park was founded in 2000 with the help of the Four Paws organisation, the Brigitte Bardot Foundation and the Municipality of Belitsa. It is
situated in a forest area of 120,000 sq m that lies at an altitude of 1,200-1,345 m. The park is actually a rehabilitation centre for dancing bears that have been
rescued from their previous owners, who used them to entertain tourists in various resorts in Bulgaria, Serbia and Albania.

Now, 25 bears, ranging in age from 4 to 37 years old, live in the park and are sorted by their individual peculiarities into seven sectors, providing them with natural conditions that help them learn to gradually lead a normal life. The fresh fruits donated by the hotel will be sufficient to feed the rescued bears for up to three to four days.

Belitsa: Dancing Bears Park -- a must see excursion

Almost all the bears in the park are digging their own dens and hibernating – something they could not do during their lives as dancing bears. General Manager Natalia Kashirskaya commented: “The donation of food to the Dancing Bears Park in Belitsa is a noble undertaking that we are happy to do for the sixth consecutive year, and we will continue to do so in the future. We are happy to be involved in various projects where we can help people or animals in

Only a few days ago, we responded to a call for help and donated food to a dog shelter in the northern part of the country. I sincerely hope that our charitable initiatives will serve as an example for others to participate in similar animal-care causes, because there is always something more which can be done for them.”
