La Veranda Apres Ski Bar Opens Friday To Sunday
The Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko sent me their press release. Which said “in co-operation with Hennessy (Jas Hennessy & Co.), opened the doors of the newest après-ski bar in Bansko. It’s called La Veranda. The beautiful summer terrace around the outdoor pool of the hotel was transformed into a classy après-ski bar with direct access to the main ski road.”
Full Disclosure: The Kempinski Bansko are sponsors of Bansko Blog. Please bear this in mind when reading this post
I was invited to the opening but was unable to attend the official opening on Saturday, 9 January. The hosts organised a stunning DJ party that was attended by prominent representatives of the local elite, hotel guests and local journalists. The invitees were greeted with welcome champagne and a fine selection of Hennessy cocktails – Hennessy on the rocks, Hennessy Apple and Hennessy Ginger.
During the event, all guests had the opportunity to taste special delicacies and hot beverages prepared by the hotel’s culinary team, including appetising bites and hot soups, warm apple juice and the favourite drink of the season: homemade mulled wine. DJ Shosho took care of the good mood and besides positive memories, all guests took home instant photographs as a keepsake from the event.
On the occasion of the hotel’s newest addition, General Manager Carsten Seubert commented, “I am extremely glad that the long-planned project of the hotel for the opening of this unique bar finally came true. Given its attractive location just a step away from the ski road, I am sure that the bar will become the favourite stop of passionate winter sports lovers coming back from an exciting day on the slopes. We sincerely hope that the weather will be on our side throughout the whole winter season so that the guests have the opportunity to enjoy our exclusive offers and luxury atmosphere outdoors longer.”
…The après-ski bar La Veranda is the perfect place for an afternoon snack or a warm drink after skiing. The bar offers a variety of specialities, including hot cocktails, champagne, mulled wine, sandwiches, soups, sausages and much more. The bar is open for all visitors of the resort every weekend from 13:00 to 17:00, weather permitting.”
So that’s the official bit — shame I missed this. I’ll have to ask Carsten to show me around La Veranda soon. Bansko really is raising the bar on the choice of food and drink you can consume.
However, what caught my attention after asking to see their menu, was that we have the Kempinski’s take on a “gourmet” burger. This burger is one of several interesting dishes that are served here. I hope to go and try this and inspect some of the changes described by Carsten Seubert, The General Manager in my interview with him here:
