Pistes 1, 8, 10 and 12 Open; Will More Runs Open Soon?
It was a strange feeling to have a season open with barely any Bansko skiing last weekend. I’m now relieved to see that the hard work that Ulen have put in to get some runs open has payed off. I have enjoyed much debate in the Bansko App Chat about the snow, weather and much more and already relief expressed at this morning’s good news.
The skiing is mainly on artificial snow. UPDATE: It is really great conditions the snow cannon and preparation of the pistes are excellent. More optimism for New Year. I’m hoping for more pistes to operate as more visitors arrive in Bansko over the next few days.
Unfortunately there will no natural snow until the 25th December but, in the meantime, there is surprisingly good snow cannon snow ski / snowboarding conditions.
Do no be put off too much by the town web cams showing no snow.
Snow forecast
The huge anticyclone that has barely moved for two weeks remains. It is holding off the storms coming across the Atlantic. These, if they made this far east, would normally give us snow. Alternatively, and best of all, the cold front move down from Siberia to create huge powder days.
The next five day weather forecast, until Christmas Eve the 24th December, will not see any significant real snow fall. Temperatures will increase hampering snow making activity.
But the positive news there are signs that things will change by then end of next week for New Year. But it is too early to say.
Watch out for my full analysis for New Year skiing early next week and do doing the Bansko Chat. And also in the app you have all the lift and run opening info.
In the meantime, save €€€’s and take a look at our discounted ski and snowboard hire, lessons, lift passes and transfers. This service was established in response to my awful ski hire service when I first arrived in Bansko. Unserviced skis, unfriendly staff, inflexible attitude. I am delighted that Bansko Blog is the preferred site for around 2,000 people a day. Many of whom realise that you can have fair value, great prices and a smile.
To check the service out please just click on anywhere you see a link or on the colourful writing above.
I thought it needed to be better — and since 2009 Bansko Blog offers only high quality services that you’re more than happy to recommend to others. See the You Say section for just a fraction of the feedback we receive. Ski and snowboard hire, lessons and transfers are not all the same. It not only saves you money but it removes the first day stress and hassle of sorting you and and your family’s / friends ski needs.
This is a one-stop shop — without compromise.
I often receive messages from web site visitors who do not realise that you can book everything you need here on https://www.banskoblog.com — or in the Bansko App ( free on both iOS and Android). If you require accommodation I, and the team here, can recommend places that suit your budget.
Save time, hassle and money from the huge, and cut through to the best in Bansko.
