When Does The Bansko Ski Season Start?

Season countdown 2015/15 has begun

When does the Bansko ski season start is my most commonly asked question? The answer is probably the season is officially opened the 12th December. However there is no official announcement and this is just my best guess right now.

Why is it not yet announced? Well the thing is — like so many things in Bulgaria — forward planning is not always a strong point. So often events are announced a few days before they happen with often minimal publicity.

But of course there is there snow to consider. Some ski seasons the lift have opened the very first weekend in December due to great snow conditions — others years there has been barely enough snow for the official opening. However, I have a feeling we’re set for a really good early season this year.

Assuming temperatures are zero or below then the artificial snow cannons work to provide necessary snow cover. This is one of things that sets Bansko apart from similar resorts.
