New Fast Six Person Chair Lift Upgrade

Todorka Lift starting at Shiligarnika now upgraded

A modern Bansko ski lift system is at the heart of the Bansko I know and love. This year there’s a new six person chair lift that replaces the old sloe three person “Todorka” lift. This new lift is a complete upgrade and serves runs 4, 6 and 9 (The Tomba).

The pictures and video blog show how impressive this upgrade is.

Why Leitner?

Loiter used to be third competitor to Dopplemayer and Italy’s Poma (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poma)  until Leitner parent group took over Poma. So in essence this is competition to Dopplemayer which accounts for the majority of the other lifts installed in Bansko.

The lift capacity is not confirmed but based on similar lifts it should be around 2,400 people per hour. Impressive.

Six person chairs ready to be installed

Up in the mountains here I’m feeling excited about the season and I can’t help looking forward to the first real snow turning this all white.

And then carving some turns in the glistening white stuff.

Reaching the plateau

This new six person chair lift will whisk riders and skiers very quickly and makes a superb alternative route to the plateau ski area.

To reach the plateau just take this new lift from Shiligarnika and then take one of several routes (piste number 4 and 6) to Buderitsa 2 four person chair lift.

Is this upgrade a sign of future ski domain expansion?

It is hard to look at this and not speculate that we could be getting closer to an enlarged ski domain. It would now seem obvious that any second gondola would indeed terminate at Shiligarnika area (1,725 metres).

Whether this is a sign is something that would be pure speculation. I’ll be writing more on this once the local mayoral elections are out of the way.

The week ahead

The smattering of snow at the top will melt and a week of relatively warm weather will set in with Bansko town reaching 21 C.

Ski bookings

I say it every year that lessons get fully booked — but they do. The prices are fully discounted and give you the freedom to pick and choose exactly what you want and when you want it.

I set up Banskoblog.com to give a transparent and honest booking service that cuts the hassle — I know the first day worry — especially with a family and we’re here to ensure to make your holiday go as smooth as it should do. So go on — what are you waiting for? Book now your lift passes, ski hire, snowboard hire, lessons and ski school, and transfers.

Saving money (and the planet) on your Sofia to Bansko transfers

The BanskoBlog Shuttle is designed for you to have a transparent €13.95 shuttle (for 4+ persons) or €19.95 per person. It is a shared transfer but I think a really nice way to make savings — and as always — everyone in your group receives a free cloth piste map.

The Bansko Shuttle is only bookable through the Bansko App.
