The Bansko Good Beer Show is back again. If that was not enough, there is a double whammy this year.  The Bansko Good Beer Show is being held both on the 3rd August and the 10th August.

With craft beer from six countries, both regular and new beer and cider drinkers are catered for.

So if you’re over for the Jazz Fest (8th till 13th August) you won’t miss out.

Some say beer is the new wine, well I believe it’s the occasion that counts and if last year is anything to go by, this Beer show with food and DJ will be a load of fun.

The beer and ciders parachuting in to Bansko

Those who came to the Beer Show last year will remember that there was a wide selection of beer from Britain, Belgium, Germany, India and Bulgaria.

This year there will be even more choice with Kingston Press cider and perry from the UK, as well as draught London Pride (UK) and the popular White Stork (BG).

I like beers with plenty of flavour, so watch out for Fuller’s Black Cab. My favourite stout. Also check out beers.bg (event organisers) for more info on British beer and cider in Bansko and Bulgaria.

Super Trooper 

The organisers have a special treat for us to try, a new golden ale, ” Trooper”.

If you’re a metal music lover you’ll be connecting with Trooper beer, on more than one level.

For readers not familiar with such matters, here is a Trooper factoid: The name is from a song called “Trooper” . It’s from Iron Maiden’s fourth album “Piece of Mind” (released in 1983). A pure rock song which has many of the best elements of one my favourite bands of that era, Thin Lizzy.

So run to the hills of Bansko’s Beer Show and taste the hand crafted collaboration of Manchester’s Robinsons brewery and Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson.

Location

Once again, Bansko Royal Towers is the hosting venue. Free use of the outdoor swimming pool and volleyball will make these two Beer Show days on the 4rd and 10th August a good time (along with the Jazz Fest) to be in Bansko.  With BBQ and food as well as soft drinks, it’s ideal for a family day out.

The Good Beer Show starts on both days at 12:00.

Entry is free. The weather will be warm and sunny ;).

At last year’s Good Beer Show I spoke to quite a few people, whilst I was merrily going about my bar duty.

Some attendees were using the show as a convenient opportunity to arrange a meeting.

It’s a relaxed setting.

Catching up with your property manager or a Bansko service provider, or to just meet up with the regulars from town, or those from other parts of Bulgaria.

Escaping the worst of the summer seaside crowds, grabbing a lung full of mountain air — and sampling a beer or three.

I look forward to seeing you, beer in hand, at the Bansko Beer Show.

• When hiking, be sure to take a snack and spare clothes / waterproofs in case of rain. Higher up above the tree line, it is exposed so a hat is essential.
