Summer activities from Premier Luxury Mountain Resort
Looking at the summer activities in Bansko, then we are in for a treat (see end of post for more). But first, I am taking a look at Bansko’s Premier Luxury Hotel summer programme of summer packages.
Take a peek at their promotional video.
It’s rather good.
The Living Bulgaria package
If there is one thing I like to advise to summer visitors to do, apart from go for walk (or hike) in the mountains, it is to discover the real Bulgaria. A summer visit to Bansko is the time to explore surrounding areas.
Surveying The Living Bulgaria programme from the Premier Luxury Mountain Resort I see it includes an excursion to Ognyanovo thermal spas. A place well known for its thermal mineral water, discovered in Roman times. One of the springs is called “Miroto”. Hot too, at 42°C.
Kovachevitsa (wikipedia link) is also on this excursion. I’ve been here and its well worth while seeing. This Rhodopi village, declared a “Architectural and Historical Reserve of National Importance” in 1977, was founded by refugees from different villages, who tried to escape the Ottoman assimilation in the 17th century.
There are no proper roads, so the village is reached and explored only on foot. The highlight is taking lunch at a traditional restaurant with home grown ingredients.
Then there is their Pirin mountain walk which includes a BBQ picnic at the forest. Rakia (a distilled brandy) and wine are promised too.
A day trip to the beach of Kavala, in Greece takes in the 5th century BC Caste of Kavala. The itinerary provides plenty of time to explore the city or simply swim and sunbathe on one of Greece’s finest beaches.
It is also worth mentioning the excursion taking in the villages of Dobarsko and Gorno Draglishte, just across the Razlog Valley. In Dobarsko the 400 year old church of Theodore Tyro and Theodore Stratelates has a small three naved stone basilica half dug into the ground. It’s a fascinating story. The view from the other side of the valley towards the Pirin is not to be missed.
Gorno Draglishte is a small village not far away and here you feel the real Bulgaria in person by visiting a traditional home, where a meal prepared only with home grown ingredients and, after a rakia or two, you will learn how to operate the loom, how to milk the cows and how to make butter!
The excursion to Rila Monastery needs little introduction being one of the symbols of Bulgaria. Originally a 10th century monastery built by St John of Rila, it was destroyed by fire at the beginning of the 19th century. The rebuild, between 1834 and 1862, now has a museum. Exploring this very important monument of Christianity gives time to reflect and connect with times past, but somehow still living, here in Bulgaria.
Life Coaching from Jenny Garrett: 11th to 15th July
Fun, relax, refocus and reenergise. This is what Jenny has in store for those who book the “Life Coaching Retreat”. More info, click here.
I am absolutely sure we all need time to reflect and reenrgise our lives.
From my own experience, so many of us live lives that can seem like a rehearsal for the real deal that will happen at some time in the future. Well time flies, and we all have the opportunity for living more fulfilling lives.
Life coaching makes so much sense. It’s an investment in ourselves that will provide a payback for life.
Can’t beat that.
Staying at the Premier also means use of the on site Victoria Spa. They advise early booking for this unique experience as spaces are limited.
Disclosure: Please note that this is a sponsored article. Whilst I never recommend anything I have not either tried, or believe in, this fact should be bourne in mind.
