The Good Beer Show, Bansko 2012

The Good Beer Show, Bansko is on Saturday 4th August. Located at Bansko Royal Towers, across the river by the gondola lift.  we are expecting a big afternoon crowd. Later that evening  the Bansko Jazz Festival starts in the town square, and continues every evening until the end on the 11th August.

Mountain hiking in the Pirin

Cooling off: Stamenka -- our Pirin hiking guide

Thank you to those who have emailed me for the free guided hiking. This includes the “hangover” hike on Sunday 5th August. Stamenka, pictured here, is one of our knowledgeable guides on all the free hikes. But this weekend kicks off with the Bansko supper club; read on for more.

Olympic action

We will not be ignoring the Olympic sporting action either. Two large screen TV’s covering the action will on site.

If, like me, you’re increasingly getting addicted to the Olympics then the lifeline is here! I digress but I am glued, or rather distracted, by the windsurfing RSX, RS 40 and all the sailing racing as I write.

A superb case of technology improving the watchability of a sport.

Relaxing and tasting by the pool

The Good Beer Show includes free entry to the Bansko Royal Towers (“BRT”) swimming pool. Turn up at BRT from 15:00 and receive free entry for all the family (normally 7 lv per person).  The tasting cards will help uThink about which beers to taste of thirteen different craft beers.

I am told we have gold medal award winners (beers that is) from Bulgaria, Great Britain, Germany, Belgium and India. Bringing along all the family and relaxing, by the pool in the hot sunshine, sounds like a good tip.

A “Team GB” tombola

Keeping the Olympic 2012 theme there will be tombola prizes. Some Team GB official Olympic T shirts, Olympic memorabilia and free beer prizes. The tombola is FREE to enter. The tombola draw will be made that day.

Mountain Walking — free guiding update

Stamenka, and support guide, will be showing us all the beauty of the Pirin National Park. She speaks perfect English and has lived in Bansko all her life.
