Snow Report Videos: Name Day Special
Snow conditions in Bansko today were fine higher up to start with. Ivanka gives us her video report.
Lift Queues
But even us being at the lift at 07.55 could not secure first gondola. Many more British folks in the queue today. But did this account for fuller gondolas and quicker moving queues?
The Plato was shut due to high winds and, with just two chair lifts operational, lines for these quickly increased to over twenty minutes long by 11:00am. But being Ivanka’s name day today, we enjoyed an early ski. Here is a happy Ivanka’s reporting earlier in the day:
It was beginning to turn from hard packed snow to slush to by midday. The ski track to the bottom is open.
Weather Forecast
It was around 14 C in Bansko today and 18C in Sofia. Maybe some light snow tomorrow, but I see a cold front move across on Saturday, so there’s hope. The main worry are these high temperatures. I think it won’t be until at least Tuesday until we see normal winter temperatures restored.
Your blog is excellent. It's fantastic to have an impartial report on snow conditions, queues and lifts. Keep up the good work.
Hi Simon,
Thank you for your kind comments…Please check out this morning report on queues. Situation will improve next week with more snow and, I expect, most lifts expected to be open.
