Just an update on your sources for Merino gear. Howies is no longer NZ-made. They are now part of Timberland/Smartwool so all their gear is made in either China or Fiji.
Chocolate Fish Merino are a UK company but all their gear is made in New Zealand. They also do som great Merino-Possum stuff (also made in NZ). They ship to pretty well anywhere in Europe, and to Japan, but not to the USA or Canada. I know 'cos I buy my gear from them now. Top-quality stuff you can't get from anyone else.
My advice is never buy Chinese-made merino. Read recently that Chinese Mills are mixing viscose in with the merino and labelling it 100% merino! Also the Chinese are treating ordinary wool with chemicals to pass it off as merino. This stuff will itch and pill to blazes. The sort of merino you can wear next to your skin is not cheap – if it's cheap it's not the real thing.
Looking forward to trying out Bansko for my next ski trip!

my husband has been skiing in his all in one suit for years., regardless of fashion, as it keeps him so warm. Its jade green with pink flashes across the shoulders, plus some bright blue bits. Will he actually be looking COOL this year??Your comments welcomed!

Chock-full of useful information as usual. Ski sox and thermals – ah, winter! If we have to be cold, we might as well be fashionable. Thanks for bringing us up to date so we can turn a few heads with our colorful gear on the slopes and during snow storms.
